Porridge to IDP malnourrished children in East RDC

Nutritious Porridge to the mostly affected and malnourished children current in Eliya Camp around Kalemie.

Recently Eliya Camp received war victims from Lukwangulo and Mutufita who lived in those places without relief aid and who were then transferred to Eliya Camp in order to expect assistance. It is now more than two months those who came from Lukwangulo have not yet received food, it the same of those who came from Mutufita who have never been assisted since they came in March 2025.

Children, pregnant women and most vulnerable women are the most affected by malnutrition, and now they need urgent support in order to save their lives. Currently people are really affected by hunger and the number is big.

Yesterday on Tuesday September 16^th, 2025 we started the distribution of nutritious Porridge and food to the most affected people mainly the children, women and elderly people, with the financial support from COHERE we offered services to 109 people among them 75% were children, 15% women and 10% elderly people. This activity took place in Eliya Camp, however the number of those who need help is now big, and on top of that many people in the camp came to ask also to be given Porridge and food. On top of the Porridge, we also distributed to them Maize Flour, Soya and Sugar which they should use at home.

The food which we shared with people included Maize Flour, Sugar and Soya. This will be done once and week for the next two weeks and unfortunately the funding will be finished. As we constrate on those in Eliya, we have also the same affected people in Kikongo/Katanika who also need the aid.

We humbly thank donors and COHERE for this support which is helping those in most need and through this people have gain hope and will continue to push for a while. We would like this project to continue for at least six months in case we manage to get more funding.
