Many villages in rural Tanzania lack access to clean water meaning villagers are forced carry water very long distances from muddy ponds shared with animals, leading to multiple health problems, particularly for children. We use local expertise to sustainably address this with low cost wells. Our local rep in Kasulu has identified villages and schools in desperate need of clean water.
Many villages in rural Tanzania lack access to clean water meaning villagers are forced carry water very long distances. Sometimes they also have to drink from muddy ponds shared with animals, leading to multiple health problems, particularly for children. Up to 50% of water pumps in Tanzania are not functioning due to a lack of spares or local expertise.
This appeal will provide access to water via a cost effective local method whereby local people hand drill and construct simple rope pumps that can easily be repaired by the villagers. This method has successfully provided water to over 30 villages so far. Only $2.000 is enough to fund a borehole and pump to make a radical difference to the lives within and around an entire village.
Help protect Tanzania's rural communities from COVID and other diseases by improving access to clean water, therefore saving many lives. Reduce the time spent, mostly by women and girls, in walking long distances to collect water. Support agriculture leading to better nutrition.
