Rungwe Mpya is located 38km in Southern Kasulu with three schools two Primary Schools and one Secondary School. The village heavily depends on the water collected from a stream which is away from the village. From Rungwe Mpya Primary School to the stream, the pupils walked almost 2km. Water collected from the stream was unclean and dirty because the stream water is shared by human and animals. We completed the borehole drilling at the school drilling 31m deep with the rope hand pump that serve the school and the teachers who are nearby the school making the total of 811 beneficiaries.
“We are glad to have the borehole at our school; the pupils don’t walk a long distance for water anymore. They get water for drinking, wash and garden watering within the school. We expect the performance at the school will improve among our students because they have less time wastage for water collection” – Venilanda, a female teacher says.
Telezia is a female pupil studying at Rungwe Mpya Primary School. She is in standard 6 this year and is one among the other beneficiaries who states; “We were the victims of water at our school and home. Now I am happy with water situation, I don’t walk much, I don’t get tired of water and this makes me with my fellow pupils use much time studying and discussing for our subjects. We thank you for your big heart to help us and we beg you to keep helping the projects of this kind to the other schools and community.”
We want to bring water to many more schools like Rungwe Mpya this year and beyond, so thank you for your generous donation.
