Pregnancy should not be life-threatening. In Borno State, too many women still face pregnancy without basic medical support. This project will provide essential prenatal care to 350 vulnerable pregnant women, ensuring healthier pregnancies and safer births. Through antenatal checkups, health education, nutrition support, and referrals, the project reduces preventable complications and strengthens maternal health outcomes in conflict-affected communities.
Every day, pregnant women in Borno face preventable risks simply because care is out of reach. Conflict, poverty, displacement, and weak health systems have left many women without regular antenatal services. Long distances to clinics, lack of funds, and low awareness of pregnancy danger signs cause missed checkups, increasing the risk of maternal and newborn illness or death.
This project delivers practical, proven care where it is needed most. We will support 350 pregnant women through regular antenatal visits, basic screenings, supplements, and maternal health education. Trained local health workers will provide services and referrals for complications. Community outreach will promote early registration and follow-up, ensuring women receive timely, respectful, and lifesaving prenatal care.
Healthy pregnancies create healthier families and stronger communities. This project will reduce maternal and newborn complications by promoting early care, prevention, and informed decision-making. Women will gain lasting knowledge about pregnancy and childbirth, while local health systems benefit from strengthened community trust. Over time, the project contributes to lower maternal mortality and scalable prenatal care solutions in Borno.
