Qtly Report to Prevent Homelessness of the Elderly

By Edwin Edgardo Otero-Cuevas | Director of Development

Dear donors:

Greetings! During this first quarter period from November 2022 to February 2023, we have been visiting different communities in over 25 municipalities of Puerto Rico, distributing promotion about our program. The idea is to prepare older adults in these communities, to make them aware of our program and how they can benefit from it.

More than 400 people have being impacted during these four months. Over 50% of the people we have served during this period are women aged 60 and over. The people who live in these communities do not have enough income to be able to access their most basic needs, including health services, even with the state medical plan.

These circumstances, in addition to other determinants of health, expose them to the risk of losing their homes. After identiying needs, in the coming months we will be targeting specific cases of older adults in communities to identify detailed needs, to prevent them from being homeless, as well as facilitating workshops on different themes to empower individuals and communities at large.

Your contribution has allowed us to prepare ourselves, ready for work, attending to the needs of so many older adults in need. For a dignified life for our older adults in Puerto Rico through GlobalGiving Foundation.

Thank you!
