Vacation just ended for schools in Brazil, after a long period of break covering the summer period and carnaval. Those are very busy dates for us, as parents of the community are away at work and the kids are off school, so we organize what is known in Brazil as "colônias de férias," recreational activities like sports tournaments and games.
We realize how important it is in this period to keep the children active and engaged in healthy activities. Our staff and international volunteers come up with different projects for the children to review materials learned in school throughout the previous year, learn languages and play games.
As children are going back to school, we are preparing to go back to our afterschool tutoring programs, including math and sciences, art and english. We will keep you posted as new activities develop!
