Primary School Khoja Mohammad Parsa

Dear Donor,

the new year is just around the corner and we would like to give you a final update on our school construction project at Khoja Mohammad Parsa Primary School in Kabul, Afghanistan.

After our last report in August, we are happy to say that the school building was successfully completed in October: about 600 students can now finally learn in a safe environment! Their old school was in such a desolate condition that the children had to be evacuated to a neighboring school due to the danger of collapse.

Thank you for making the implementation of the project possible! We appreciate your commitment very much.

The last steps!

Dear Donor,

we hope you are well in these challenging times!

As it’s been a while that you heard from us, we’d like to update you on the latest developments at the Mohammad Parsa Primary School in Kabul, Afghanistan:

May: The construction work is progressing as planned. In addition, both a workshop with our project partner OASE on project planning and implementation and a workshop on Methodology and Calligraphy for the teaching staff took place.
June: The structure of the building is taking more and more shape. Nevertheless, there are always hurdles to overcome during the work, which are associated with internal problems of the construction companies and generally the financial crisis in the country.
July: The construction almost came to a complete stop due to the financial difficulties of the construction company. As a result, OASE held a meeting with the construction company to discuss solutions.
August: The construction work could finally resume full speed! The next steps include: work on the roof, attaching the doors, building the well and painting the in- and exterior. The construction work should be completed by the end of August.

Despite these good news, the educational situation, especially for girls and women, has deteriorated drastically since the Taliban took power: 46% of Afghan schoolgirls are not allowed to attend school and many female school graduates have to abandon their studies or decide not to enroll because of the harassment of the Taliban. In addition to these problems, the country is facing a humanitarian disaster: 97% of the people in Afghanistan do not have enough to eat, the economy is idle and prices for almost everything are rising continuously.

Because of that, we and especially the Afghan people continue to rely on your support. Education is a human right and each completed school year reduces financial poverty by 12 %. So let's make a contribution and turn Mohammad Parsa Primary School into a quality learning place for the students!

The construction work continues!

Dear Donor,

we are very happy to give you an update on the latest developments at the Mohammad Parsa Primary School in Kabul, Afghanistan!

December 2021: The Shell is finished

Shortly before the onset of winter, the second floor of the shell of the main building had been completed. As the winter in Afghanistan is very cold, the construction work had to be paused for the following few weeks.

April 2022: The construction work continues!

While the construction work was at a standstill during the winter months (Dec. 2021 - March 2022), some work took place to prepare for its resumption. After the New Year and Spring Festival Nauruz (21 March 2022), the construction work finally started again. So at the moment many things are going on in parallel like the completion of the main building and the construction of the toilet block. At the same time, the local partner OASE reactivated the school development committee of the school. In the four meetings so far, the participants appreciated the progress at the school and collected important suggestions for the next steps.

Even with the good news however, we still rely on your support to fully finance the project. Apart from that, Afghanistan is experiencing the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. 95 % of the population is endangered by food insecurity or malnutrition to an unprecedented degree (UN OCHA). That is because of the economic collapse, the deterioration of the finance and health sector, extreme droughts and international sanctions after the Taliban took power.

Therefore, we are grateful for any donation that helps us to contribute to a sustainable positive development of the country. In this context, we'd also be very happy if you shared our work with your colleagues or family and friends! Of course we will keep you posted on the Mohammad Parsa Primary School in the coming months.
