Justice for My Sister celebrates the culmination of another PA Certification cohort

JFMS - PA Mixer December 2024
JFMS - PA Mixer December 2024

Dear Donors,

At Justice for My Sister, we’ve just concluded our latest cohort of Production Assistants consisting of a group of 30 talented, early-career filmmakers. Through the program, the participants have gained invaluable hands-on filmmaking experience, honed their soft skills, and built a strong network of peers and mentors who will support them throughout their careers. We have placed the trained PAs on film sets and provided them with stipends.

In December 2024, we culminated the workshops by holding a PA mixer, where the latest cohort as well as the alumni of the program came together to break bread, network and celebrate their achievements.

This Mixer was a great success, offering a celebratory conclusion to our latest cohort’s journey at Justice for My Sister and felt like a holiday party and reunion rolled into one. We were able to bring together about 40 attendees including participants, mentors, and producers.

The event embodied the sense of belonging our program strives to foster. Participants expressed that the program provided them with not just professional skills, but also a political and creative home. The event also doubled as a networking opportunity where the producers who sponsored the PAs attended to connect with participants and discuss future opportunities.

Many participants emphasized how the program helped them "find their people"—peers and mentors they continue to create art with outside of the program.

At Justice for My Sister, we take pride in our ability to create and sustain these creative communities. We are able to do this work thanks to generous donors like you.

Please consider doubling your donation in support of our PA Certification program.

Sincerely,

Justice for My Sister team
