The purpose of the CUIDARTE program is to promote the integral development of early childhood from 6 to 36 months in rural and regional areas through adequate stimulation and empowerment of development, accompaniment and strengthening of skills for parents and caregivers and inter-institutional articulation. for the full exercise of RAIPI rights (identity, health, initial education and nutrition), recognizing and promoting knowledge and cultural practices.
In Panama 33% of the children below 3 years of age in vulnerable and rural areas do not recievie early education services, due to lack of institutional offer; what becomes an problem of lack of equal opportunities to the less fortunate children and this contribute to the multidimensional poverty index, and to the poverty cycle in one of the most unequal countries in the world.
This project will provide altertative services based on an evidence proved methodology which will support mothers an other people in charge of the early age children so that they can while they play and learn, estimulate the early development skills (motor skills, cognitive learning, language and socialemotional learning).
The home visitors model desired actions and demonstrate activities to encourage mothers to respond to their child's vocalisations and actions. They demonstrate ways to talk about and show her child objects and activities in their environment, and how to introduce new activities and concepts.
