This technical report of the Cuidarte Program; A community and family modality of comprehensive early childhood care for rural areas and indigenous regions based on home visits, corresponds to the first semester of year 2 of implementation, which covers the period from January 15 to May 20, 2024.
The Cuidarte Program, implemented in the District of Arraiján with funds from the Sus Buenos Vecinos Foundation, is a challenge and at the same time an opportunity to so that children between 6 and 36 months of age who do not have access to early education centers, receive accompaniment through the modality of home visits, and each week receive activities that contribute to the development of skills: motor, socio-emotional, adaptive, cognitive and language.
The Cuidarte program contributes to the attention of Red Flags, which are warning signs that through the implementation of inter-institutional alliances. The Cuidarte Program in the participating communities of the district of Arraiján is a palliative for a significant population of 300 children and their families in the age range from six to thirty-six months. This report gives an account of this management.
It is important to note that for the period covered by this report of 18 weeks of implementation; From January 1 to May 31, 2024, home visits and accompaniment to mothers and and caregivers of infants, a total of 5,048 have been carried out, which represents 93% of the goal expected by the Cuidarte Program, 215 children of the 300 beneficiaries have received between 85 and 100% of the care.
There are still important challenges related to achieving the provision of health services, combating poverty and malnutrition, as well as other needs that have been identified during the reporting period, and that are being addressed with the commitment of the institutions involved in the Local Network.
Through the inter-institutional action of the Government of Western Panama, MINSA, Social Security Fund and MEDUCA, 193 beneficiaries of the Cuidte en la Policlínic Program have been served.
For this period, we highlight that in close coordination with the Ministry of Health; it has already been achieved that they are being provided with the health and nutrition services required for child development, with the support of MEDUCA and the Government of West Panama, the MIDES has selected a first group of 16 mothers participating in the Cuidarte Program who should receive the SENAPAN Program, starting in September. who have met the eligibility requirements and there is a second group of of 10 mothers who are in the process of completing the requirements demanded by SENAPAN-
It is also important to note that the supervisors carried out 80 supervision of the community promoters during the reporting period and 54 weekly meetings were also held in the same period, likewise the United Fund of Panama team constantly supervises and gives recommendations on the progress of the Cuidarte Program in order to meet the 26 Quality Standards it requires.
During the Second Community Educational Meeting, the Electoral Tribunal carried out 180 procedures to update birth registrations, applications for new IDs and replacement of expired IDs or issue new ones, among others.
