The South African Human Rights Commission concluded child hunger in the Eastern Cape qualifies as a disaster. 25% of children suffer from stunting caused by chronic malnutrition. 90% of public-school learners depend on nutrition programmes. This project provides immediate relief by delivering nutritious meals to vulnerable children. By fighting hunger, we help improve health, focus, and school performance, giving children a real chance to grow, learn, and thrive.
Every day in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, thousands of children arrive at school hungry, their stomachs empty and their focus fading before lessons begin. Chronic malnutrition is stunting their growth, weakening their immune systems, and robbing them of the ability to learn, play and thrive. For many, the meal they receive at school/community programs is the only one they will eat all day. Without urgent intervention, these children will continue to face hardships no child should ever endure.
This project tackles child hunger in the Eastern Cape by providing nutritious meals to children who depend on school and community programs for food. Love Story serves 66,000 meals each month, with a large portion going to children. By expanding our reach through public support, we can ensure that more children receive consistent, nourishing meals, helping them grow strong, stay healthy, and have the energy and focus they need to learn and thrive.
By providing consistent, nutritious meals to children, this project helps break the cycle of malnutrition and poor educational outcomes. Over time, children will grow stronger, healthier, and more focused in school, building a solid foundation for a brighter future. Access to proper nutrition supports long-term physical and cognitive growth, giving children a better chance at future opportunities, stable livelihoods, and the ability to contribute positively to their communities.
