Wishing you and your family a 2019 filled with peace and joy!
For the past 10 years, "Project Mosquito Nets" has been providing long-lasting insecticide treated nets and education to vulnerable families in impoverished communities in Zambia. Beneficiary communities are carefully selected based on the transmission rates for malaria and the ability of residents to purchase nets. In 2018, direct beneficiaries of this program were about 34,000 young children or 17,000 adults as each net (8500 nets were provided) can sleep up to four young children or two adults. As we close 2018, we wanted to give you an overview of program activities, their impact, and our plan for the upcoming year.
Program activities
In 2018, malaria prevention events were organized in seven rural and urban communities in Zambia. A total of 8,500 long lasting nets and education on malaria were provided to children and families vulnerable to malaria.
Program Impact
As a result of the malaria prevention program, we are seeing a reduction in the incidence of malaria and families have better knowledge about malaria prevention and the proper use of nets. Most families are happy that they can keep their families safe from malaria and would like to see the program continue for the next several years.
Plan for 2019
Thanks for your dedication to keep thousands of orphans and vulnerable families safe from malaria.
