GlobalGiving Project of the Month Club

Dear Project of the Month Club,

Last month, the Project of the Month Club raised $2,529 from 100 donors to go toward Microfinance For Marginalized Communities, Mexico, a project sponsored by IMIFAP. In addition to funding microloans of $50 each to 25 entrepreneurs, your generous donations will also provide these individuals with necessary equipment for their microenterprises. When IMIFAP’s project leader Claire heard about your contribution, she said,

"We are so grateful to have been chosen as the project of the month for October. The additional funds that our microfinance programs will receive will allow us to purchase much needed equipment for microenterprises in rural Mexico. The funds may be used to purchase a dehydrator for fruits and vegetables, computers for internet cafes, tables and chairs for party rental businesses, sewing machines for sewing clothing and uniforms, or other equipment participants in our Yo quiero, yo puedo programs need for their microenterprises. Again, we express our deepest gratitude for this additional support."

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, your November donations will go to Increase Food Security in Oregon, raising the supply of nutrient-rich foods for over 923 relief agencies throughout the Oregon Food Bank Network. According to the USDA, Oregon is ranked third in the nation for "very low food security"—the term used to describe those households that skipped meals or reduced their food intake to make ends meet.

The funds you raise this month will supply 7,200 meals to low-income individuals - freeing up scarce resources to cover more of life's basic necessities. We hope you are proud to know that your donations are helping men and women improve their living conditions for themselves and their families.

Thank you for being part of the Project of the Month Club, we are so grateful for your regular contributions. There are now 100 Club members – yay! – and collectively we can improve this season of thanksgiving for numerous needy families in Oregon. You can also give the Project of the Month club as a present this holiday season.

Dear Project of the Month Club,

Last month, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the Project of the Month Club raised $2544 from 99 donors to go toward the various projects supported by the  Safer World Fund. We're pleased to tell you that the Fund's founders, Joyce, David, and Gene--three Americans who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks--matched your donations at 50%, so you actually sent $3816 to be split between "Shelters for Women in Iraq and Afghanistan" and several other important projects supported by the Safer World Fund.

When Joyce and the founders heard about your contribution, they said, “thanks so much for your support -- what a great tribute to compassionate people everywhere. We appreciate your help in fostering positive change in the aftermath of 9/11.”

Your October donations will go to Microfinance For Marginalized Communities, Mexico, funding microloans to 25 entrepreneurs working to lift themselves out of poverty. The loans will be distributed by IMIFAP, and entrepreneurs will undergo comprehensive financial and life skills training as part of the loan process. The training program, called " Yo quiero,  yo puedo“ (I want to, I can), was recently awarded for excellence by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).  We hope you are proud knowing that your donations are helping men and women improve their living conditions for themselves and their families.
