Wilderness landscapes have incredible wildlife, Indigenous cultures, and vast carbon stores. We aim to protect 5 MILLION acres by 2030 and protect it FOREVER, working closely with Indigenous peoples. In Western Australia, 1 acre (4000m2) of pristine land costs US$5 per acre - the average cost of a cup of coffee. In 2022, with the help of donors and impact investors, we bought over 500,000 ACRES of incredible habitat and important sacred sites dating back 40,000 years.
77% of Earth's wild places have been destroyed. Thousands of species, along with Indigenous cultures & languages are going extinct. The destruction releases vast amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. Australia has some of the world's last great wilderness but also has the world's highest mammal extinction rate. And over 200 Aboriginal languages have faded from existence. We work with people like Rhonda (main photo), whose language is mostly lost to memory, as are many of her sacred sites.
Forever Wild is just the vehicle - real change comes from us all. We blend donations with commercial finance, making a massive impact with each dollar. It all goes to protecting wild places from destruction, conserve wildlife and create new, sustainable livelihoods such as wilderness tourism and wild foods. In just 2 years Forever Wild has acquired >1700 sq kilometers of wilderness to protect in perpetuity, empowering local people & showing the world that TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!
