Nala is quite content being back home in the USA with her human mom Kylie.
Kylie contacted us via email and she desperately wanted to escape her abusive partner in Japan but did not want to leave her precious Nala behind.
Kylie had no idea how to get Nala home. She found the Japanese requirements for exporting cats to the USA complicated. Her abusive partner also used Nala to control Kylie. He did not allow Kylie to leave the house with Nala unless he accompanied her, making it very difficult to plan an escape.
Over the course of several weeks we safety planned with Kylie and came up with a plan for Kylie to escape in the middle of the night when her abusive partner was asleep and go to a hotel with Nala. But first, little by little Kylie removed her important documents and small personal belongings in her computer backpack and took them to work where she had a suitcase. She also applied for an export inspection for Nala.
When the night finally arrived, she quietly left and took Nala to a hotel. The next morning she was able to go to the prearranged vet visit for the certification and an airline approved carrier.
It was quite stressful for Kylie but she was so happy you have our support and guidance through her ordeal. She is very grateful for your support of this project and so are we!
Thank you from the Pathways' Team!
