You Helped Perri!

By Paula Lucas | Founder

Renatta arrived back in the USA with Perri after escaping violence from abroad only to find out that her friend that she was supposed to stay with had changed her mind. She was afraid Rennata's abusive husband would try to find her and she and her family would be in harms way.

When Renatta contacted us she was frantic. She had nowhere to go with Perri and was desperate, terrified of spending a night homeless in the street with Perri.

We were able to get Renatta connected to a domestic violence shelter in her town, but they did not allow pets. Luckily, the shelter partnered with another agency that provided foster homes for pets for domestic violence victims.

By the time night came, both Renatta and Perri were safe. Renatta is sad she can't have Perri with her in the shelter. But Perri's foster mom sends Renatta pictures and Perri seems quite happy! Renatta is able to visit Perri once a week.

Renatta is working with shelter staff and she hopes to be in her own transitional housing apartment by the end of the month. Then she and Perri can be reunited!

Without your donations, we would not be able to quickly navigate resources for domestic violence victims and their pets and get them to safety.

Thank you from the Pathways' Team!
