Support more than 150 children that every year we take care of and protect, coming from environments of deprivation or neglection and showing signs of physical and emotional abuse. For these kids is very difficult to get a full coverage of health services or the medicines they need. Most of them have never had access to specialized medical care. This project aims to make sure these children have access to quality health care, specialized medical and diagnostic services and appropriate medicines.
Colombian health system has been in crisis for several years, inequity has been a constant over the years and multiple attempts to reorganize it, have been unsuccessful. Children in temporary protection are affected by this situation because general health care plan only covers for basic tests and medicines. Children neglection has been growing in Colombia in the recent years and the health system has failed to provide an adequate service to children who in temporary protection.
This project will give funding for us to provide better medical care to children in temporary protection, making sure they have access to the medicines, clinical services, lab tests and specialized medical attention they need. We'll also use the money to improve the quality in nutritional, pediatric and dental care. The main objective of this project is to restore the fundamental children's right to health and, in the end, contribute to their happiness.
The long-term impact of this project will be reflected in the evolution and improved health of the children in temporary protection in CRAN foundation. They will benefit from acquiring better health care and medicines access according to their requirements. This will ensure that during their childhood and adolescence they can enjoy better health, thus contributing to their proper growth, development and overall happiness.
