The desire of living

By Juanita Esguerra | Communications officer

With your support we have been able to prevent contagion and take care of our children and adolescents according to the protocols and standards for the protection of Covid-19. We want to tell you the story of one of our little girls, Sofía. She arrived at CRAN when she was only three days old and the outlook was not very encouraging. Her background was complex, her biological parents are street dwellers and during her gestation period they were under the consumption of psychoactive substances, which did not allow Sofia to fully develop. Due to this situation, the baby was born with few prenatal checkups, which added additional risks to her health. Her low defenses, her insufficient weight, among other difficulties associated with pulmonary issues, caused above all a respiratory deficiency that has been the greatest challenge for CRAN's health care during this time of pandemic.

Shortly after entering CRAN, on April 24, to be precise, Sofía began to show signs of fever and respiratory distress, very similar to the symptoms associated with Covid-19. EMI, the home health service came to the emergency, performed the test for Covid and transferred her to a hospital. Results that confirmed it was not Coronavirus were received 18 days later, time during which Sofia remained hospitalized. During all this time, personalized individual accompaniment was carried out in the hospital, and then she was given special care during isolation.

A month later, Sofía returned with the other CRAN children, where the care with oxygen and antibiotics was initially maintained, which allowed her to be in perfect health today.

Sofía is proof of the desire that our little ones have to live and luckily today she is healthy and growing with all the care and love as any of our children and adolescents under the temporary protection of CRAN.

You CRANsform this reality! You make it possible for children like Sofia, to enjoy a nurturing environment of love, care and protection dureing the time with us.

Thank you very much for loving, protecting and caring for our children!

We invite you to continue supporting us and spread our project with your friends, family and coworkers. Thank you for building a better world with us!
