Protecting the Health of Colombian Orphans

Sebastian was born on May 28, 2019 with respiratory problems as a result of poor birth control and what his mother went through to hide the pregnancy.

During the gestation, Sebastian's mother was sent to a teenage pregnancy and nursing operator and at birth, he was left in the care and custody of his grandmother Gloria. Sebastian did not receive the necessary care from his grandmother and had to be hospitalized for severe pneumonia and developmental deficiencies of his lungs.

Being in intensive care at the hospital, the protection measure of the child is sought and at nine months and twenty days of birth, CRAN assumes the care of Sebastian who is brought to the Foundation in February 2020.

CRAN assumed the care of Sebastian, giving him the best possible conditions. Fernanda, a CRAN caretaker, assures that it has been a huge challenge. It was three months where the child was in a rigorous care not only to attend his pneumonia and respiratory problems, but also to attend his developmental problems because Sebastian showed a gap in his development for not having the necessary early stimulation and very low weight. 

Thanks to the strict care that was given to Sebastian at CRAN, in June when he had his check-ups at the hospital they gave the great news that he no longer needed oxygen, of the eight medicines that he had formulated, he would only be left with one and would gain considerably in weight.

Today, Sebastian is already one year and four months old, has gained weight and is already walking thanks to the CRAN caregivers who made it possible for him to move around and without assistance from anyone.

Sebastián, un verdadero luchador

Sebastián nace el 28 de mayo de 2019 con problemas respiratorios como consecuencia a los pobres controles natales y a lo que se sometió su madre para esconder el embarazo. 

Durante la gestación, la mamá de Sebastián fue enviada a un operador de adolescentes de madres gestantes y lactantes y al nacer, él quedó bajo el cuidado y custodia de su abuela Gloria. Sebastián no recibió los cuidados necesarios por parte de su abuela y tuvo que ser hospitalizado por una fuerte neumonía y deficiencias en el desarrollo de sus pulmones.

Estando en cuidados intensivos en el hospital, se busca la medida de protección del menor y a los nueve meses y veinte días de nacido, CRAN asume el cuidado de Sebastián quien  es llevado a la Fundación en febrero de 2020. 

CRAN asumió el cuidado de Sebastián, dándole las mejores condiciones posibles. Fernanda, una cuidadora de CRAN asegura que ha sido un reto enorme. Fueron tres meses donde el niño estuvo en un cuidado riguroso no sólo para atender su neumonía y problemas respiratorios, sino también para atender sus problemas de desarrollo pues Sebastián mostraba un desfase en su desarrollo por no haber contado con la estimulación temprana necesaria y muy bajo peso. 

Gracias al estricto cuidado que se le brindó a Sebastián en CRAN, en junio cuando volvió a tener sus controles en el hospital dieron la gran noticia que ya no necesitaba oxígeno, de los ocho medicamentos que tenía formulados, solo quedaría con uno y aumento considerablemente de peso.

Hoy en día, Sebastián ya tiene un año y cuatro meses, ha subido de peso y ya camina gracias a las cuidadoras de CRAN que hicieron posible que pueda moverse y sin asistencia de nadie.
