Thanks to you we can see well!!

By Juan | CRAN communications

[Abajo puedes leer en español este reporte].

Emanuel, an 8 year old boy, had a blurry sight, he only saw shadows of the trees, mountains and buildings whose sight can be enjoyed from our offices outside Bogotá. He also conveyed to us that “I couldn’t play soccer either because I could not distinguish the court or the ball”. Now and thanks to you, he has a pair of glasses with which he can see clearly now his surroundings, the words on the board his teacher writes or the ball with which he plays soccer with his friends. Emanuel summarizes it in a sentence: “before, I saw ugly, now I see pretty”.

Just like Emanuel up to five of our children require monthly glasses or other gadgets such as special patches to improve their sight. According to Delia, the nurse at our institution, the most common diagnosis are amblyopia and astigmatism. When the former is detected early it is treatable and even curable. That is why it is so important that our children be assessed by an eye doctor as soon as possible and that they can get prompt access to the glasses and patches they are prescribed.

Some of the health insurance companies cover only 10% of the cost of lenses and frames whilst others provide very poor quality glasses.

You give our children the opportunity to enjoy durable and nice looking glasses and the possibility to transport them to their medical appointments, tests and glass shops. Thanks to you we can afford to pay an escorting person that goes with them and helps them.

On behalf of Emanuel and of all the other children that can now play, learn and explore the beauty of the world because they can now see well, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

¡¡Gracias a ti podemos ver bien!!
