Dear Donors,
Thank you for supporting the Provide 10,000 Bed Nets to Reduce Malaria in Douala project. We sincerely appreciate your generosity and concern for families living in communities where malaria remains a major health threat.
Many households in Douala continue to face repeated exposure to mosquito bites because they do not have access to insecticide-treated bed nets or are using old and damaged nets that no longer provide adequate protection. Children under five years of age and pregnant women remain among the most vulnerable groups, facing a higher risk of severe illness and complications from malaria.
We are grateful for the donations received so far. However, the amount currently available is not sufficient to begin implementation of the project. Additional support is needed before procurement, transportation, storage, community mobilization, and distribution activities can commence.
This project aims to provide 10,000 insecticide-treated bed nets to households in malaria-prone communities across Douala. The distribution will be accompanied by practical education on proper net use and maintenance to help families receive the greatest benefit from the intervention.
Preventing malaria is often more effective and less costly than treating repeated infections. Access to a quality bed net can help protect families every night, reduce healthcare expenses, lower school absenteeism among children, and decrease the burden malaria places on households and local health facilities.
We remain committed to implementing this project and continue working toward the resources needed to launch the first phase. As progress is made, we look forward to sharing updates, photographs, and stories from the communities that will benefit from this support.
Thank you for helping protect vulnerable families from malaria and improve health outcomes in underserved communities.
Warm regards,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
