Walking Aids for Disabled Students

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Provide 200 Walking Aids to Disabled Students project under the Disability Rights Nigeria initiative. Your support shows care for students who face daily mobility challenges while trying to stay in school.

Many students with physical disabilities attend school without proper walking aids. Some rely on unsafe sticks or lean on classmates to move between classrooms. This increases the risk of falls, causes pain, and makes learning harder. Most families cannot afford suitable walking aids, and many schools lack resources to support students with mobility needs.

This project is planned to deliver 200 adjustable walking aids directly to schools serving students who need them most. Each aid will be fitted with support from teachers and health workers to match the student’s height and movement needs. With safe walking aids, students can move more freely, attend classes regularly, and reduce dependence on others.

At this time, although donations have been received, the funds available are not enough to start the project. Procurement and distribution cannot begin until additional support is secured.

We remain committed to carrying out this project and will share updates as soon as implementation becomes possible. Continued support will help disabled students move safely, stay in school, and learn with greater ease.

With thanks,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
