Mobility Challenges Make School Difficult for PLWD

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting the Provide 200 Walking Aids to Disabled Students project. We sincerely appreciate your generosity and concern for students whose education is made more difficult by mobility challenges.

For many children with physical disabilities, getting from one classroom to another can be a daily struggle. Some rely on makeshift supports such as sticks or branches, while others depend entirely on friends, relatives, or teachers to move around school grounds. These difficulties increase the risk of falls, injuries, fatigue, and missed learning opportunities.

We are grateful for the donations received so far. However, the amount available is not yet enough to begin implementation of the project. Additional support is needed before procurement, fitting, transportation, and distribution of the walking aids can take place.

This project aims to provide safe and properly fitted walking aids to 200 students attending schools in communities with limited access to mobility support services. The walking aids will be selected to match the needs of each beneficiary and will help students move around school more safely and independently.

Access to a suitable mobility aid can make a significant difference in a student's daily life. It can improve confidence, reduce physical strain, increase participation in school activities, and help students attend classes more consistently. These simple devices can remove barriers that many children face every day.

We remain committed to implementing this project and reaching the students who need this support most. As more resources become available, we look forward to sharing updates, beneficiary stories, and photographs from the distribution activities.

Thank you for helping create more inclusive learning environments for children with disabilities.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
