Dear Friend,
On behalf of all our staff and patients, thank you for your generous giving to Partners In Health! We are so grateful for your partnership as we continue to fight injustice and fortify health systems in Haiti.
With your support, Zanmi Lasante (ZL), PIH’s sister organization in Haiti, has been able to provide high-quality malnutrition screenings and treatments at hospitals, clinics, mobile clinics and home visits. ZL produces and distributes Nourimanba, a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) made of locally grown peanuts, milk powder, canola oil, sugar and vitamins. By eating several servings of protein- and vitamin-rich Nourimanba each day in addition to their meals, children quickly gain weight and grow inches within weeks of starting treatment.
Unfortunately, violence and instability, and consequent supply chain and transit disruptions, have worsened malnutrition in Haiti. Despite this, our logistics and supply chain teams are adapting to and working around these new and changing threats, including finding new routes and ways to reach patients at home.
At this time, we have decided to close our malnutrition-specific project on GlobalGiving, though by no means will we be ending our malnutrition work in Haiti. In order to be adaptive to the emergencies that come our way, we are prioritizing unrestricted fundraising for our care delivery site in Haiti. Unrestricted investments will ensure PIH can weather the current global health funding upheaval, prepare for future crises, and create systemic change to advance health equity. Flexible donations enable us to continually refine our activities to protect our patients’ fundamental right to health amidst the changing health and security landscape in Haiti. This will include malnutrition screening and treatment, among other essential programs.
Your giving has made it possible to provide lifesaving care during these critical times. Thank you for partnering with us.
In Solidarity,
Partners In Health
