For our 2013 AUDIENCE PROJECT TOUR, Arts For All is bringing a free professional production of E. Gray Simmon's 'PINOCCHIO' to 2,500 in-need students the five boroughs of New York City! Each performance of the 2-week tour is followed by a Q & A session with the audience. This engaging version of 'PINOCCHIO' explores adventure, desire, family, and learning right from wrong, with original music by Clayton Colwell. All the themes are augmented by a free Study Guide and 4-week pilot workshops.
Many cultural programs offered for young people require funding from the host institution, which public schools cannot offer. Even in New York, a city brimming with theatres, museums, cultural centers, music venues, and other arts spaces, many children do not have access to these artistic institutions in or out of school due to the cost. In addition to the fiscal cost, the time necessary to engage deeply with art is often prohibitive. This tour gives 2,500 students access to professional art.
Arts For All offers accessible artistic opportunities to children in the New York City area who face socio-economic, physical, or emotional barriers to exploring the arts. Through Arts For All, professional artists work with youth organizations to build self-confidence, self-expression, teamwork, resilience, and creativity in children. The annual Audience Project tour presents a professional production free of charge, with an accompanying Study Guide and pilot workshop program at selected sites.
'PINOCCHIO" provides valuable lessons for 2,500 NYC children, teaching children the importance of family, adventure, teamwork, and learning right from wrong. These themes will stay with children long after the show. Teachers will also revisit themes using Arts For All study guides provided, designed to encourage children to apply the lessons in their own lives. Arts For All is also offering a free, 4-week workshop program that explores the themes presented in the shows at 3 selected schools.
