In her small house in the village of Sambalthivu, Trincomalee, head teacher of the Sunshine Day Care and Preschool, assisted by volunteer mothers tenderly attended to the next delivery of grocery items and educational packs for the Sunshine Children. With an island-wide lockdown still in place, the challenge was to make sure nutrition and education continues uninterrupted. Over the years, The Sunshine Charity has not only focussed on the children, our primary beneficiaries but also made sure that our staff along with the mothers are empowered to understand the greatest needs of children. Encouraging them to be actively and meaningfully involved, the collaborative effort saw how coming together achieved stronger and successful results.
“Our district is under lockdown. Living off the main road in remote areas, there is no vendor who is willing to deliver our needs. We are very grateful for these groceries delivered to our doorstep by the Sunshine staff” is how families repeatedly expressed their thanks.
On behalf of the children and their families we say thank you to all our donors to be able to continue our work during these demanding times.
