The project “Provide heathy water and food for 5953 children” aims to carry out drilling and produce vegetable through agroecological practices in 11 primary schools in rural area. Il is an opportunity to allow 5953 pupils to have drinking water and healthy lunches.
The project activities started on 1 september 2022 through the own funds of AFDD and the grants of Paris city hall. The funding amounts to 11000 Euros.
The school of Yombo and Sekia-Dallet villages were trained on agroecology and have received agricultural inputs (seeds of vegetable, tools and other materials) in November 2022
The pupils of the village Sakia-Dallet and Yombo’ school received water drilling and sowed vegetables. They sowed 167 vegetable's boards (area of board : 2004 m2 ) since 2022 to 2023 and 20 vegetable's boards (area of board: 216 m2 ). The pupils of the village Sakia-Dallet and Yombo’ school sowed 13 types of végétables : Tetragone, Amaranth, Tomato, Jute, Spinach, Okra, Carrot, Eggplant, Cabbage, Cucumber, Headed cabbage, Lettuce, Sorrel.
The students eat and sell some of the vegetables to buy bread, eggs, oil ,etc.
The Schools sell water at a lower cost to people in their village. The water income is used to maintain the water borehole and to buy vegetable seeds.
