Dear Donors,
We are appealing for support for the Provide Learning Aid for Children with Dyslexia project. At this time, no donations have been received. Without funding, we are unable to begin screening, teacher training, or distribution of learning materials for affected children.
In many Nigerian schools, dyslexia is poorly understood. Children who struggle with reading and writing are frequently labeled as lazy or unintelligent. Some are punished for poor performance instead of being assessed for learning difficulties. Public schools rarely provide specialized materials or structured support for these learners.
Most families cannot afford private educational support. Many parents are unaware that dyslexia is a learning difference that requires tailored teaching methods rather than discipline. As a result, children lose confidence, fall behind academically, and may eventually drop out of school.
This project will identify 1,500 children with dyslexia through screening exercises and provide learning aids designed to match their needs. Materials such as visual reading cards, audio resources, and reading guides will be introduced in classrooms. Teachers will receive basic training on how to support students with reading challenges using simple and practical methods. Selected children will receive one-on-one assistance to help them keep pace with their peers.
With early support, children with dyslexia can improve their reading skills and remain in school. Structured assistance reduces shame and frustration and encourages steady academic progress. Training teachers and equipping schools will also improve classroom inclusion for future students.
At present, no funds have been raised, and activities cannot begin. We kindly ask for your support to help children with dyslexia receive the understanding and tools they need to succeed in school.
Sincerely,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
