Summary

This project will fund lifesaving surgery for people on the Thai-Myanmar border. Myanmar has the world's longest-running civil war, with hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced people who cannot access critical medical care due to high cost of treatment and the intense political and humanitarian crisis. Our frontline medical partner for this project is one of the only organizations that can ensure treatment for those who need it most - saving lives and unlocking brighter futures.

Challenge

For the strong and resilient people living on the Thai-Myanmar border, lifesaving surgical care is often out of reach. Many of the patients we serve are in need of a C-section to ensure that both they and their babies are safe and healthy. Other critical treatments we support include cancer surgeries, heart surgeries, and eye surgeries. While the need is tremendous, we believe there are even more people around the world who want to help make lifesaving medical care possible for all.

Solution

With support from donors like you, we can ensure that people living on the Thai-Myanmar border have access to the medical care they need in this hard-to-reach corner of the world, where the need is tremendous and resources are scarce. As our patient Naw Say who lives in a refugee camp shared after safely delivering her new baby via C-section, "I can't imagine how my delivery would have turned out. I am so happy to have a lovely baby. ...Thank you to everyone who helped me."

Long-Term Impact

With this project, we will support 30 additional surgeries for people living on the Thai-Myanmar border. Beyond each patient we reach, the consistent revenue stream and financial stability that our programs offer to our frontline medical teams enables them to provide higher-quality and safer healthcare for everyone in their communities. Because of our support, our medical partners also report having more robust training programs for the next generation of healthcare workers.
