Dear Donor,
We have prepared this report to explain the rationale behind the changes in our project’s scope and to provide you with an update on our current activities.
Approximately seven years ago, we launched this project to meet the basic hygiene needs of infants in 250 Syrian households who had migrated to Turkey. Our goal was to support the basic health and hygiene needs of babies and mothers who face inadequate and unhealthy conditions every day.
Thanks to you, we provided a kit containing formula, diapers, shampoo, cream, onesies, a baby bath tub, and other hygiene supplies to hundreds of Syrian babies living in Istanbul.
By reaching out from all corners of the world, you showed us that we are not alone and that our efforts are making a difference. Ensuring that your unceasing donations reached the right people, at the right time, and through the right channels was our greatest responsibility, and we did our very best to fulfill it.
Our decision to update our project today is based on the ongoing wars in neighboring countries, the effects of the most destructive earthquakes in Turkey’s history, and the deepening poverty caused by the economic crisis. With nearly four million refugees, local communities—especially women and children—are struggling to access basic necessities.
For refugees arriving in Turkey from countries such as Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iran, and Africa, access to basic necessities like healthcare, shelter, and food has become even more difficult due to the economic crisis, disasters, and displacement. The most destructive earthquakes in our history, which we experienced in 2023, triggered yet another wave of internal displacement for both the local community and refugees, further increasing their vulnerability. The effects of the economic crisis, compounded by wars in neighboring countries, have created a large population in Turkey living below the poverty line in deep poverty. Deep poverty is hitting infants and children the hardest.
Amid the uncertainty caused by the wars, crises, and disasters unfolding right on our doorstep, we are continuing this project to meet the basic needs for food, diapers, and hygiene supplies for newborns in 500 households.
Every donation you make will help meet a baby’s most basic and urgent needs, supporting a healthy start to life and healthy growth. Your support will give mothers a sense of security and empower us to share this solution.
How Will Your Donation Be Used?
Your donation will be used to provide a newborn kit.
A newborn kit includes the following items:
3 months’ worth of formula
3 months’ worth of diapers
Clothing, shampoo, soap, wet wipes, cream, scissors,
Bag
You can track how your donations are delivered to the right people at the right time using the right methods, and how we maintain our presence without losing contact with the communities we serve, through the reports we will send you every two months and via our web site.
With solidarity,
