Thanks to this project we will provide 300 underpriviledged families with tools, inputs, resources and knowledge so that each family can develop sustainable solutions and eventually improve their quality of life. La Nazarena is a center for human development aim to support, educate and encourage the most vulnerable families in Florencio Varela, Buenos Aires. Consequently, we provide comprenhensive quality education, healthcare and job skills so that these families can thrieve in life.
In Florencio Varela, state-run schools failed to teach classes during 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions and the lack of devices (computers and cellphones). Moreover, before the pandemic crisis these schools were facing severe issues such as poor curricula, teachers unions strikes, crowded classrooms, high dropout rates, lack of resourses and equipment, among others. Therefore, children grow up in poorly maintained neighborhoods facing discrimination, gender inequality and violence.
We have developed a new curricula fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access to math, programming, language and literature, history, science, art and social skills. We also offer college scholarships, orchestral instrument lessons, vegetable gardening and sport classes for kids; as well as Job skills and other training for adults. Additionally, we have inaugurated an early childhood development center in April 2019.
Thanks to this project we will improve the quality of life and the standards of education of 300 families. Consequently, these families will access to higher education, decent jobs and good healthcare. We strongly rely on innovation so we lay great emphasis on programming classes as a solution to rise out of poverty and on food gardening programs to end hunger and malnutrition. Consequently, in the long term, these families will be agents of change in their community.
