Every child deserves an excellent education! We imagine a world where every school is a vibrant place for children to gain the skills and strength of character they need to thrive and succeed. Teachers have the biggest impact on children's learning. We believe in equipping and empowering teachers so that 900 students marginalized by poverty can receive quality education and fulfill their potential. Quality education transforms students' opportunities, and gives them a pathway out of poverty!
Children aren't leaving school with skills they need to thrive! World Bank have declared a global learning crisis. In Kenya, only 39% of teachers can prepare lesson plans, 33% can assess student ability, and 29% can evaluate student progress. Learners are rarely encouraged to participate in lessons, question new material, expand their reasoning, and collaborate with peers. As a result, 40% of children aged 6-16 years cannot do everyday math, and only 30% of Grade 3 learners can do Grade 2 work
We empower educators to transform their schools through leadership development and instructional coaching so that their schools become vibrant places of learning where all children fulfil their potential. Our Stawisha Program delivers training and coaching through four main components: Leadership Academies, Professional Development Workshops, Coaching, and Professional Learning Communities. We track teacher competencies, and typically observe significant growth over the course of a partnership.
Our long-term goal is that children from under-served communities are prepared to thrive in life. Our children should be skilled problem solvers, great collaborators, and confident communicators. In the short term we measure gains in teacher competencies, and gains in student achievement, which point to children in Dignitas classrooms learning more, and retaining more. This project will impact 3 schools and 900 children, allowing them to transform their learning and achieve their goals.
