Hawantu Bernard is one of the children who is benefiting from the funds you have helped provide through this project. Hawantu will celebrate her 13th birthday on October 15th this year - 2009. Her father is a blacksmith and her mother is a petty trader. She likes swimming and has a dream of becoming a medical doctor.
Thanks to you, Hawanatu and several other children are able to continue schooling this academic year. We are grateful for your support and for joining us in making a difference in these children’s lives.

Dismal situations are the flip side of opportunities ... and a call for action! They present real opportunities for making an impact and making a difference.
Last Friday, October 9th, the President of Sierra Leone, speaking at the State Opening of Parliament affirmed that the economy and the nation can never be improved without a sound education. President Koroma said "automatic grant-in-aid would be awarded to female students offering mathematics and engineering as a way of empowering them".

In the quote and article linked above he highlights the importance of education and providing grants / scholarships to students in order to support their education. This focus on developing human potential aligns closely with Develop Africa's vision. Develop Africa was birthed out of the vision that human resource development is the key to improving nation building capacity in Africa. Your donations are investing into human resource development – the development of human lives.
In furtherance of this vision, Develop Africa recently packed over 10 drums of books and school supplies for shipment to Africa - http://bit.ly/xIjvF . In the past week, Develop Africa has also sent scholarship funds raised through this GlobalGiving Project to support the education of children in Sierra Leone.
By investing into the lives of Hawanatu and other children in Sierra Leone, we are together making a real difference. Thanks in advance for your continued support that would help us to impact many more lives and help rescue the education system and the lives of these precious children.
