In the last few months, in addition to the regular computer class, YUM-VTC held two special technical classes. First is a free Internet class for adults/parents, this is a pilot project initiated by one of our donors, Mr. Don Hall from the Priscilla Hall Memorial Foundation. In the morning, the computer room is normally empty and at the same time, the parents of YUM Pre-school students are in the area. We realize their limitation when it comes to technology, meanwhile they want to support their child’s development and education in this challenging digital era. Therefore, running an Internet class for them to upskill would not only benefit the children but also give the adults extra skills and development opportunities.

The other special class is Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship training with YoExplore. They are a community based online marketplace for people to list and book unique travelling experience designed and/or delivered by locals. They use an online platform to reach a global market and contribute a positive social impact for local communities together with global travelers. For three days, the trainers delivered essential information and knowledge about promoting a brand using digital and social media. The materials were given to the class by using methods of interactive videos and presentations. Everyone was very curious and enthusiastic to understand what was delivered in this training, which was not only enjoyed by the VTC students but also by YUM’s staff.

 Parent & student testimony

“I was so delighted when YUM selected me as one of the participants for this training. The knowledge that I have now is very valuable; it makes me more confident to start my own business as soon as I graduate from school. “ Reza, High School student

“It has been so long since I have used a computer. Now, not only do I get better in using technology and support my child but I can make an email and Facebook account too. I enjoyed myself so much while I am in the classroom.” Tita, YUM Pre-school student parent.

With your incredible support, YUM is able to provide regular computer maintenance, stable internet connection and qualifiedtutors. These facilities enable us to run training and workshops that enrich the participant's skill. We hope that in the future this will assist them in obtaining work.

Thank you GlobalGiving donors.
