Dear Friend,
Since our last report, the CAPEC ICT beneficiaries have put into practice the knowledge acquired during their five-month practical and theoretical training classes.
Thanks to your support, class three pupils were included in our computer training program at school. ICT is a part of the school curriculum for this grade level that slowly integrates them at an early stage into IT related skills. They have learned binding, photocopying, laminating and paper cutting. To complete their course, they were trained during the holiday period when the schools were closed in May.
Ten (10) additional beneficiaries are now computer literate; making it a total of 50 beneficiaries to date. They can now use the computer to write about their own personal stories and experiences, and to write letters. Class six pupils can also use email and Facebook to correspond with pen pals in schools abroad.
We have another group of volunteers from Italy who run the ICT program for the entire school session, including holidays. They have their own individual laptops, and have taught us new programs from them.
We have faced many challenges. Broken computer equipment required that we pair several children to 1 computer which was a bit difficult for the teacher. Student attendance and tardiness was also a factor. Some computer data was lost because of power outage during training. We hope to get a school generator as soon as funds are available.
The progress we have made could not have been possible without your much needed support. We, and the ICT program kids who are receiving this essential training and exposure, say Thank YOU! for YOUR valued support.
