Fund Source of Income for Wheelchair Users - Egypt

Dear Alhassan’s Donors,

We do highly thank you for your last donation. You are making a noticeable change in people with mobility issues’ lives in Egypt. Providing source of income for a person with physical challenges is a vital tool to have a balanced life that helps him/her to become independent financially and socially.

Through your donation, you helped in supporting a whole family financially. This family, now, is able to live a decent life. The story starts by Mahmoud who is married, and he has a young daughter. He had a car accident two years ago. This accident led him to be paralyzed. He is Paraplegic which means that he lost the ability to use or move his lower body. He became a permanent wheelchair-user. He lives in a rural area, a poor place in Egypt. Additionally, Countryside areas in Egypt is inaccessible, no available transportation to pursue a decent job. He faced two challenges, which are being a permanent wheelchair-user and the difficulty of finding a job.

With your support, you served Mahmoud financially and socially. We have been able to furnish a shop next to his house and provide him with basic commodities. This shop is for spare parts for Rickshaw or so called “Tuk-Tuk” in Egypt. Rickshaw is originally denoted a two or three-wheeled passenger cart. This kind of transportation is very well-known in the countryside of Egypt. Now, he has this shop selling the spare parts. Mahmoud said, “Now, I am a real husband and father whom can earn money for my small family”. Now, he is able to fully support his family and be financially independent.

Lately, we won an honorary award of Zero Project Conference 2019 to acknowledge that we are sustainable in our mission and vision and we are always seeking for the betterment of life for physically challenged people through changing their disability into ability. This Award ceremony was held in the UN premises in Vienna which focused on Independent Living and Political Participation. This honorary award is not only for us, it is for you as well our donor. Our dear donor you helped us financing many projects in the last couple of months. But also you support helped us find other sources of income so we had a partnership with one of the notable banks and other socially responsible organizations in Egypt to hire wheelchair users.

Here’s a couple of the success stories of our members:

1- Our first beneficiary is Ahmed who has a BCs in Information Technology

He is 26 years old and got hired as an IT specialist in a bank.

2- Our next beneficiary is Mohamed who has BCs in Law.

He is 24 years old and got hired as a Customer Services coordinator in Alhassan FDN.

3- Our third beneficiary is Sarah who got hired as a social media specialist in one of the most notable foundation in Egypt.

We have more & more success stories for older & younger persons with disabilities were able to achieve great progress and overcome real challenges, whether they are females & males, old or young, paraplegic or quadriplegic.
