This project will provide toys and food vouchers for 400 children with Nodding Sydrome in South Sudan. The children live in poor rural areas of Western Equatorial State and have compounded needs and low coping mechanism due to disruptive nature of the diseases on their wellbeing and high levels of poverty of their families and communities. Play toys will help the children to engage in healing recreational activities. Food vouchers will allow the children access consistent and nutritious meals.
The well being of children living with nodding sydrome is bleak in South Sudan. They live in poverty, have challenges accessing education and do not participate in recreation activities due to frequent episodes of seizures they experience as a result of nodding sydrome. Parents and caregivers cannot leave the children alone because when the children experience seizures, they can easily fall and injure themselves or when near fire or water, they face risks of burns or drowning.
Under this project, TGCDA will provide food vouchers that can last for 12 months. Also, the children will be provided with age appropiate toys in order to engage in healing recreational activities. The support will make the children happy, healthy and boost their confidence.
Providing consistent and nutritious food to the kids will improve their health and enable them to engage in activities normal children do. Play gifts to the kids will allow them to engage in kids sports which will have a positive impact on their health and well being. Happy and confident kids will be able the stigma they face as a result of the sydrome.
