Last year, our Family Support Workers gave 3,848 hours of hospital support and 2,431 hours of transport to families who have children in hospital receiving life-saving treatment.
Many of the families we support have no transport of their own, others need help because their only car is needed to keep a parent in work and paying the bills. Some children receiving treatment such as chemotherapy have a very low immune system, so taking public transport is a risk to their health.
For whatever reason, our transport support is a vital lifeline to Rainbow Trust familes.
Your donations have enabled families not only to get to hospital, sometimes as far as 100 miles away from home, but also to spend that time together. Our Family Support Workers drive the family in a specially-adapted vehicle so that parents and siblings can spend that time together, talking about the day's treatment or playing games to take their minds off what can be a very long day away from home.
Every donation is helping us ensure these families are receiving the very best care. Thank you.
