We are an integral part of nature

By Juliana Mendes | Communication Coordinator

Hello there, dear friend!

We are very happy to announce the official launch of our Forest Therapies program!

This is the latest version of our medicinal plants program which started over twenty years ago, and is now back, after the covid situation has more or less normalized, and we are able to carry out face-to-face activities.

Through this program we’re constantly looking to understand how nature can heal itself and others, including us, as long as we cultivate, nurture and study and learn how to work with the native medicinal plants.

We know that medicinal plants are those that have pharmacological properties, meaning that we can use them to help in the cure or treatment of various diseases. They have been used for a long time - by our ancestors and probably yours, too - and are becoming better and better known because they can play an important role in healing some diseases.

Our main task here in the medicinal plants mandala is to connect with nature and read it, like we read pages of a book, so it can speak. Through  this project, we seek to study the plants and recover traditional knowledge on how to use them.

In the mandala each circle hosts different plant species, and each species has a specific active principle for different disorders.

And to learn from them, it is necessary to observe them, analyze them over time, understand more of their specific physical and morphological characteristics, and learn how to care for them.

We must also understand that our mandala is a living organism in which everything is related, and interdependent. So slowly we are learning to recognize and respect these relationships.

So, please join us on this journey and learn more about our project!

With lots of love,

Carla and the Forest Therapies team
