Empowerment in Action

By Yadira Rodas | Program Psychologist

We’ve hit the ground running in 2025!

In the heart of Guatemala, women and families are gaining strength, independence, and hope - thanks to you. Through the Protection and Empowerment Program, women are learning new skills, reclaiming their rights, and stepping into a future free from violence and poverty.

This year, we launched a Human Rights and Economic Empowerment Diploma, giving women the tools to advocate for themselves and build sustainable livelihoods. In January, over 20 women joined a hands-on crochet workshop, transforming yarn into opportunity.

Soon, others will explore the healing properties of natural stones and jewelry-making, expanding their entrepreneurial skills. For women who trained in 2024, our Friday marketplace at Asociación Nuestros Ahijados (ANA) is helping them sell their handcrafted goods - reaching visitors and generating income to support their families.

But empowerment isn’t just financial - it’s emotional. Our psychosocial support team has been working tirelessly, providing therapy and counseling to women and children who have survived trauma. Thanks to collaborations with local universities, psychology students are gaining hands-on experience, ensuring more families receive the support they need to heal.

Your generosity fuels every step of this journey. Because of you, women are finding their voices, children are healing, and families are building a brighter future.

Thank you for standing with us in this life-changing mission.
