Unfortunately, we have not been able to make much progress on the second floor of the grounskeeper's house. Construction is an extremely expensive endeavor, and every penny we receive has to go towards our teachers and students. And so, there really isn't much to report in progress, as we have not been able to.
The good news is that we have submitted a proposal to group of mothers in Quito who hope to help us raise the remaining funds to finish the second floor. With a budget of $6,000, we would be able to seal the house (windows and doors) and build a small kitchen, lay tile floors, and buy the furniture necesary to receive volunteers.
Having volunteers at school opens the students' minds in more ways than one! They get to meet and ask questions to someone from another country, widening their perspective and helping them to become global citizens. Most of our volunteers speak English and help our students practice. They also share other skills likes sports and art that we may not have access to professionals in these areas.
We are so grateful for your support so far in this project. We hope to resume construction by July if all goes well. Any additional donation would be a wonderful help. Thank you!
