We are excited to share the news of U-Turn’s recent launch of a new homeless support centre in Northcliff, Johannesburg. This centre is a significant step forward in our mission to support the homeless community in the city.
The new centre provides access to basic needs, services, food, clothing, group sessions, and shower facilities. It serves as a safe space where individuals can find respite and begin their journey towards rehabilitation.
In addition to these essential services, the centre also offers voucher earning opportunities. These vouchers are part of U-Turn’s innovative rehabilitation programme, which has been designed by a multidisciplinary team of social workers, homeless support workers, occupational therapists, counsellors, trainers and life coaches.
While we celebrate this milestone, we acknowledge that there is still much work to be done. U-Turn is actively working to expand its reach and services to help more beneficiaries. However, this expansion requires resources.
50% of U-Turn’s income is self-generated through our social enterprises. These enterprises not only provide sheltered employment to our champions but also help us cover operational costs. However, we rely on your generous donations to cover the remaining 50%.
Your donations can make a significant difference in the lives of the homeless. They enable us to provide essential services and expand our reach. More importantly, they give us the means to help the homeless overcome homelessness.
