Tackling Homelessness in South Africa

Hello Friends and Family,

Over the past 24 months we have seen more and more people on the streets and although it might be summer in South Africa the sun is just as bad as the cold, fighting over shade and local authorities moving people on so they are not in sight for tourism limits where people can stay on the streets. 

Our program funded by donations allows us to provide a number of services and it all starts with referral where we provide a free item of clothing (donated) or a hot meal at our homeless shelters, once the homeless people reach out to us we have a team of professionals that work to provide the support for anyone that is ready and willing. 

Homeless people must join our program and the first part is moving into our shelter and kick their additions from drugs and or alchol. Once clean they can then join our working program where they can work in one of 12 charity shops, local farms that we have purchased through donations to help provide food to our shelters, we also once shown commitment provide additional funding and training for people and today we have seen a homeless guy go from drug addict on the street to a fully qualified lawyer, we also have trained others in becoming a teacher, doctor and finance worker. Others go on to become a shop manager in our stores. 

With your donations we are funding the feeding program and more and we aim to riase $9,000 so we can provide additional meals to homeless people over this festive Thanksgiving and upcoming Christmas, Join Us on December 3rd when donations will be matched by GlobalGiving and we can provide even more suppot and food to people on the streets

Hello to all our Supporters, Donors, Friends and Family! 

We only do what we do with you beside us, we are the rock to so many communities around the world but you are our rock! 

Over the past 2 years we have seen a steady decrease in funding to many of our programs and as a charity we decided that it was time for change. Traditionally we have been putting 100% of the funding into our projects and keeping them alive so funding feeding programs, research, equipment and other essential items. 

While this is still a critical part of our work with the decrease in donations we need to step up our long term sustainability plans and therefore we have increased our professional volunteering and mentoring program that connects people in the community with qualified and experienced mentors around the world. 

Using this mentorship we have started to work with each community and build a plan that will lead to the community being setup to fight the issues they face themselves, it's a transition period that won't happen overnight however rather than putting funding just to "surviving" requirements we have now been able to use donated funds and volunteering hours to train community members, build websites and install local income generation projects that will take the pressure of fundraising. 

It is a really exciting time and we continue to look for people that are willing to donate their time as a mentor and not just focused  on people donating funds, we still need those incredible funding donation gifts but we are excited to expand our team to mentor, inspire and support community members to building their own project to change their future.
