Solar Power Restored

By Natasha Wilson | Senior Technical Lead

We are pleased to share an important technical milestone in our mission to provide sustainable water to the 3,000 residents of Terrat.

Solar Power: Back Online

After experiencing some minor technical issues with our solar array, we are happy to report that the system has been fully repaired and optimized. The sun is once again powering our pumps, allowing us to draw water from the borehole without relying on the expensive and often unreliable local electrical grid.

This restoration is a major win for the community's resilience, ensuring that clean water remains available even during fuel shortages or power outages.

The Challenge: Beyond the Pump

While we are successfully getting water out of the ground, our current piping infrastructure remains a significant bottleneck.

  • The Goal: We want to expand and upgrade the pipe network to reach more remote areas of the community and reduce the distance families (and often children) must walk to fetch water.

  • The Reality: Much of the existing piping is undersized or aging, which limits the volume of water we can distribute at any one time.

Fundraising Progress

Progress on the fundraising front has been slower than anticipated this period. To move from "pumping water" to "distributing water efficiently," we need to secure the capital for high-quality, durable piping and professional installation.

Why your support matters now: With the solar system stabilized, every dollar raised now goes directly toward the physical infrastructure needed to put that power to work.
