Ockhi Cyclone on November 29, 2017 shocked all people of Kanyakumari District in the State of Tamil Nadu, southern India. VOICE Trust joined with local collaborator WEEDS and extended emergency relief for 660 families in 12 villages. The target people are all tribal communities. They are not influential with officials and the politicians. Being voiceless, they requested us for help through GlobalGiving. With supports from friends, we started small relief activities. With GlobalGiving help, cooking vessels and family articles were distributed.
Now, there is huge disappointment among Ockhi Cyclone families. They are fed up that help is not coming for their relief and rehabilitation. VOICE Team has been asked by them to support bee keeping. Each family needs minimum of $150 for starting bee keeping as a permanent employment and income generation activity. Women and Children are interested to spend their time usefully for bee keeping. VOICE Team has agreed to help in marketing the value added products like honey.
Please extend your help and cooperation. One of you can help one family or many of you can join together to help some families. We will inform you about number of Ockhi Cyclone affected families helped by friends through GlobalGiving.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
