CRESCA, the animal rescue center, is our current primary emphasis on community health and welfare.

 Animal Rescue Center- CRESCA In addition to community outreach, maintenance, cleaning, feeding, and care is given to all animals resident at the facility each month. The facility receives stray and injured animals from local authorities and occasionally from community members.

In addition, MMB, the local mine, has begun supporting the rescue facility once again, and bringing strays there as necessary.

•  Housekeeping and maintenance of the facility occurred as usual.
• Feeding, watering, and veterinary care were given to all residents of the facility. 
• Ivermectin was applied to all pet residents by our veterinarian Uriel Valdez for the control of fleas and ticks
• Our volunteer veterinarian, Adrian Beltran, arrived to walk dogs several times in October
• With the help of the municipal police, a dog was rescued from a student pensione.
• Relations were established with a person in the community that has rescued 16 dogs and has them in his house; we are helping his by transporting the animals to be sterilized, the procedure, and recuperating at CRESCA before being returned to his home
• We visited the rescue center in Vizcaino that has been started by some community young people; they have about 60 animals there and we donated some dogfood and exchanged experiences
• Our rescue center provided cremation services for six deceased pets during the month (750 MXP each)
• Two refuges were constructed in the kennels in anticipation of winter conditions
• A representative of the Secretariat of Health visited CRESCA and vaccinated all dogs agains rabies

 Hagamos Más Por Santa Rosalía is a community foundation focused on supporting and strengthening local communities throughout the municipio of Mulegé in northern Baja California Sur, México. This local foundation is funded by a combination of local and foreign donations. It is one of the few small foundations in México authorized to issue certificates of taxdeductible donations.

The foundation is currently working closely with the USbased “Ecologists Without Borders” on sustainable fisheries efforts. Support of sustainable fisheries comes through identifying and promoting the use of national and international best practices, with the objective of substantial improvement in health of the marine environment and the health and wellbeing of local coastal fishermen, as well as the same for those who depend on them and their products.

Achieving these objectives is in the hands of the fishermen themselves using a "bottom up" approach, with both FHMSR and EcoWB facilitating and supporting the efforts.

The foundation hosts an animal rescue center as the centerpiece of its community health and education endeavors, striving to remove sources of disease and improve sanitation in the community through proper management of stray animals.

The rescue facility also serves as a teaching vehicle for local schools to assist in instilling community values such as responsibility, teamwork, and animal welfare.

 A small store for the sale of handicrafts is operated in Santa Rosalía by the foundation to showcase local arts and crafts, as well as support local artisans.

Foundation activities are divided into six broad categories: sustainable fisheries, community activities, community health, support of education, support of artists and the arts, and fundraising. Fundraising is further divided into donations and earned income. Staffing levels, including volunteers, are reported each month. The monthly was very productive, particularly in terms of the partnership with Community Alliance of BCS, which allowed the delivery of emergency food supplies to households severely affected by the storms of August and September. In addition, the foundation participated notably in the 137th Anniversary of the founding of Santa Rosalía.

CRESCA, the animal rescue center, is our current primary emphasis on community health and welfare. In October, at the invitation of the department of Municipal Health, our foundation was invited to form part of a committee for the prevention of addictions. 1.5.1 Animal Rescue Center- CRESCA In addition to community outreach, maintenance, cleaning, feeding, and care is given to all animals resident at the facility each month. The facility receives stray and injured animals from local authorities and occasionally from community members. In addition, MMB, the local mine, has begun supporting the rescue facility once again, and bringing strays there as necessary. The rescue center population in October was 69 dogs, with four being placed for adoption, 3 deceased from distemper, and 21 sterilized (4 low cost for pet owners and 17 free in coordination with the Secretariat of Health. The rescue center regularly places about 50% of its population in adoptions during the year.

• Housekeeping and maintenance of the facility occurred as usual.
• Feeding, watering, and veterinary care were given to all residents of the facility.
• 4 lowcost sterilizations were completed by M.V.Z. Uriel Valdez for community pets during the month.
• 17 free sterilizations were achieved thanks to collaboration with the Community and Secretary of Health and local municipal government Ivermectin was applied to all pet residents by our veterinarian Uriel Valdez for the control of fleas and ticks.
• Our volunteer veterinarian, Adrian Beltran, arrived to walk dogs several times in October
• Six dogs were captured in October and brought to CRESCA  after first being reviewed, desparasitized, and vaccinated at Veterinaria San Fernando.
• Three dogs were received from COMSA gypsum mine on San Marcos; with the prospect of a working agreement.
• 4 puppies were abandoned at CRESCA in October
• The rescue centered provided cremation services for five deceased pets during the month
• The access road, which was damaged first by tropical storm Javier and then by hurricane Kay, received maintenance and stayed open, despite yet another (and unexpected) rainstorm that occurred in early morning on the 28th of September
