In this report, we want to tell you about:
We live in such interesting times, don't we? We at Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue are adjusting, like the rest of you, to shelter-in-place orders, social distancing, and frazzled nerves. We are doing it all knowing our core mission does not change. Indeed, caring for a pet is recognized as an "essential activity" by shelter-in-place orders. So our volunteers soldier on, with due regard for the precautions the coronavirus demands of all of us. You can see our COVID-19 statement here.
Let us tell you the story of one of our recent rescues.
Echo is a young African Grey, only about 8 years old, abandoned at his birdsitter due to a series of sad circumstances. The owner was moving out of the United States and received approval from the destination country to bring in Echo, but was unable to move Echo before the approval expired. Though it was a gut-wrenching decision, Echo was then signed over to the birdsitter. The birdsitter tried unsuccessfully to find a home for Echo and then contacted Mickaboo. Echo is now in our rescue flock, with a strong possibility of being adopted soon into a permanent home - a wonderful outcome for this highly intelligent, beautiful, and sensitive creature.

Our local city animal shelters are greatly reducing their operations in response to the coronavirus. We anticipate the demand for Mickaboo's services will rise correspondingly.
Would you help us be prepared to help birds like Echo? GlobalGiving will match 50% of your donations, up to $50/donor, from Monday 3/23, 6 am PT through Friday 3/27, 9 pm PT. Matching funds will NOT run out, regardless of when you give during that timeframe. The timing of this matching campaign could not be better.
All of our rescued birds and our many hard-working volunteers will appreciate your generosity - especially during this time.
