Summary

This project fosters sustainable growth through building long lasting community partnerships. Our mission is to promote community-driven development by utilizing the collective nature of human interaction. Our programs create long-term solutions designed to enhance the lives of rural Malawians. Help us feed 430+ students today and build infrastructure tomorrow. Our integrated approach allows us to support projects across many development sectors. Your gift reaches every corner of our community.

Challenge

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, with over half of its population living in poverty and one-fifth in extreme poverty. Due to its poor economic status, communities are facing a diversity of interconnected challenges regarding health, education, food insecurity, infrastructure and external shocks, particularly climate shocks which negatively affect agriculture. Our bottom-up approach allows us to address these multifaceted, localized issues by prioritizing community needs.

Solution

We are currently providing school lunch to 500 primary students and farm inputs to the school feeding committee. Our focus on road infrastructure has opened the door for further development, like our new electricity program, which will wire 40+ homes and bring power to our community! We also provide training to our committees (such as proper food storage, nutritious meals preparation, and sustainable agriculture cultivation) for capacity building and to ensure the sustainability of our projects.

Long-Term Impact

The feeding project will increase school attendance, increase small holder farmers income by buying their produce and reduce hunger for 430 students. Chitende road infrastructure will open doors to further development activities and business opportunities which will improve the quality of lives of at least 1600 households. Community trainings will strengthen human and social capital, allowing stakeholders to prioritize their own individual and community needs.
