Keeps us moving forward!
Greetings from The Cove Collective Team.
We know it has been a while since we've touched base with our incredible donor base, however all of our programs are still moving steadily along. Our school feeding program continues to feed over 500 primary school learners each and every week. The impact of this program has been amplified due to the current economic state in Malawi. Many families are struggling now more than ever to be able to put food on the tables even once a day. In July, we were able to start communications with The World Food Program to see how we might work together to further strengthen this program. More details will come in the following months, but new and exciting collaborations are definitely on the horizon.
Our rural electrification program has sadly hit a bit of a stall. The stipulation was to get at least 40 homes in our community wired for power, which we completed right away. Now though, we are stuck waiting on the Malawian government to fulfill their promise of bringing the transformer. Times in Malawi are at an all time low, both economically and politically it seems, but we have not given up hope yet. We continue to work with our local community leaders and chiefs to make sure our community does not get lost in the beaurocratic shuffle.
And lastly, we have plans to start a large campaign next year, in 2026, to secure funding to finally make the necessary improvements to the Chitende Road. By turning the dirt road into a paved road, we will be able to make sure that our community has year-round access to life saving health services. It will continue to open the door to other organizations and the goverment to make the much needed improvements to our primary school. It will allow future businesses access to the area and allow our local fishermen to improve access to their businesses as well. We will be looking primarily for large corporate sponsors, but we know our community of donors (YOU!) might have connections as well. Please feel free to reach out if you have any ideas or are willing to help with this project in any way!
As always, we want to extend our eternal gratitude to our small base of monthly donors. You really do make it possible and sustainable to keep all of these projects moving forward. Together, we are making a tangible impact in the lives of so many members of the Chilumba community, at a time when they are really struggling. Your continued support is what is keeping all of our programs going and the community appreciates that support immensely. So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
With much love and appreciation,
