The people of Aleppo, Syria have suffered great trauma, horrific events and tremendous loss. Most have fled to nearby villages and towns, some fled to the countries surrounding Syria. Many are simply waiting for the freedom to return and rebuild their lives in their home city. Now is that time. But, they need your encouragement and partnership to succeed. GHNI has teams on the ground already in place, trained and equipped to begin. Will you help make Aleppo safe for families again?
Hundreds of thousands fled Aleppo, or withstood the explosions and fighting during the violence most of us have watched on our nightly news over the past several years. Now it is safe for them to return, rebuild and restore lives, hearts and hope. With a new vision, these families are ready. The city has been all but destroyed. Rebuilding will take time, money and other resources. Local funds have been exhausted due to needs provided to families during the war - food, water, medical needs.
Our trained team, already in Aleppo (Syrians), partnering with those returning, will help to rebuild. The families returning are the true heroes, alongside those of us who offer financial help. Together, we will restore a once beautiful place, known to be historically important in many cultures. By offering a hand-up to those rebuilding, supporting a family for a month or two as they work to restore their lives, we can bring hope and unity to a divided world.
Children in Aleppo, Syria will grow up to learn peace, partnership, and in the joy of knowing someone, although far away, cares. They will learn the resiliency of their parents as they watch the rebuilding of a city. Families will work together, forming friendships and alliances. This will, in turn, make the community stronger. Long term, the families will develop a confidence empowering them to overcome future obstacles. Equipping families with short-term support provides a strong future.
