This project will help 500 street boys receive basic care, counseling, and safe transport to reconnect with their families in Nigeria. Many were abandoned or ran away due to abuse, poverty, or neglect. With family tracing, therapy, and support for reintegration, the boys can leave the streets and return to stable homes. Funds will cover temporary shelter, psychosocial care, transport, and follow-up visits.
Thousands of boys live on the streets in cities across Africa. Many were forced out of their homes or left due to violence, hunger, or lack of care. Living on the street exposes them to more harm, abuse, crime, and drug use. Few shelters have the capacity or resources to help them find their families, and many children stay on the streets for years with no help.
The project will trace families, provide safe transport, and support counseling for both boys and parents. Temporary shelter, food, and therapy will help the boys prepare for life back at home. Social workers will visit families and offer basic follow-up care to help reduce repeat abandonment. Every boy will be given time, care, and support before reunification.
Boys who return to safe homes are less likely to be harmed or involved in crime. Reunification gives them a chance to return to school, regain stability, and rebuild family bonds. Each child removed from the streets means one fewer case of street violence, abuse, or early death. Reaching 500 boys can set an example for local care systems and reduce the number of abandoned children.
